We’re thrilled to announce that our own executive director, Judy Raymond, has been honored with LeadingAge Virginia’s 2022 Vision Award and was recognized at a ceremony during their June conference! Judy has been at the helm of Lake Prince Woods for 12 years and has been a strong advocate for seniors and the senior living industry since 1984.
Judy has been described as persistent, magnetic, open-minded, innovative, bold, and collaborative. As a licensed nursing home administrator and certified therapeutic recreation specialist, she’s impacted countless lives at Lake Prince Woods and has served on (and chaired!) a variety of committees to advocate for older adults through regulation and legislation alike.
Judy has also helped nurture tomorrow’s leaders in the aging services industry. She’s mentored more than 50 administrators in training, including minority candidates, and has worked diligently to advance diversity in the field. Mary Ann Gamboa, Lake Prince Woods’ current health care administrator, is one of Judy’s past trainees and confirms, “As an inspirational coach and leader, Judy has a way to empower others in realizing their full potential. I am living proof of her empowerment.”
As executive director, Judy has also led development of Lake Prince at Home, LLC, a Medicare-certified home health and hospice agency, and she’s spearheading an expansion of cottage and villa units, along with a new wellness and community center. Under her leadership, Lake Prince Woods has been certified as a Great Place to Work®, and the community itself has benefited from her nimble navigation through the waters of the COVID-19 pandemic, with all of its testing, quarantines, labor shortages, and regulation.
Everyone who knows her understands that Judy truly lives and acts with a “service before self” sensibility. Her thoughtful approach to care and to facility management dovetails perfectly with the Vision Award’s ideal of a leader who respects the past, leads today, and creates the future. Lake Prince Woods and EveryAge are proud to have her on the team and to honor her character and contributions. Thank you, Judy. Well-deserved, indeed!
